Program Outline

Three-day tour will allow you to visit the main temples in small and big cycle of archaeological park and floating village on Tonle Sap, Beng Mealea. You will visite Tomb Raider temple “Ta Prohm”, the most famous Angkor Wat and others temples like: Bayon, elephant terrace, Baphoun, Pre Rup Neak Pean, Preah Khan.

Programe in detail

Day 1: Visit Kampong Kleang (floating village) and Beng Mealea temple

In the morning, after breakfast in your hotel, we will pick you up at 8am.
Today, you will visit Tonle Sap lake “floating village”. Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and one of the most diverse and productive ecosystems in the world. It has been designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997 due to its high biodiversity. The inhabitants of this village are accustomed to living with the both seasons, the monsoon and the dry season, most of them earn their lives with fishing and agricultures. We can visit the village by walking in the dry season and visit by boat in the rainy season. The children of this village go to school and back homes by boats in the monsoon.

Before arriving the Tonle Sap Lake to enjoy a nice view and mangrove, we will take a boat from the riverbank drive slowly crossing the village with many houses builds on huge stilts of 6 to 7 meters high in other to avoid floods on the both sides of canal. In the rainy season, the children will go to school and back home by boat and some villagers selling vegetables, fruits and others daily life’s product on their boat in the village. After lunch and a moment of rest, you continue your visit to discover the 12-century-old Beng Mealea temple, abandoned in the middle of the forest and encircled by tree roots. Located 60 km from Siem Reap, it was built by Suryavarman II and has never been restored. Return to Siem Reap late afternoon.

Day 2: See sunrise at Angkor Wat and visit the main temple of small tour

In the morning, you can enjoy your breakfast in hotel before starting the tour. Our English-speaking guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 8am. Before starting the tour, they will first take you to the ticket counter where you can buy your angkor pass. The process of purchasing the Angkor pass is very simple and quick.

The starting point is Ta Prohm, it is a temple where the roots of trees have invaded the roofs and galleries of the temple. Ta Prohm is one of the most atmospheric Buddhist temples in the angkor park. This temple was built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The Hollywood movie called “Tomb Raider” (with the participation of Angelina Jolie) made this temple become famous. When you arrive the temple, you will be surprised by the unique atmosphere created by the ancient temple half covered with large roots of tree.

After finished the first temple, you will continue your visite to Bayon temple which is located in the center of the ancient city of Angkor Thom. This huge temple was the last capital of the Khmer empire under the reign of King Jayavarman VII. This ancient city is surrounded by great 7 meters high wall and 3 km long on each side, forming a perfect square. Bayon is one of the most amazing state temple of King Jayavaman VII built in Angkor, it composed many towers with large mysterious stone portraits faced to the four cardinal points. After Bayon, you will visite the elephant Terrace and Baphoun temple, one of the biggest hinduism mountain temple in Angkor Thom witch close to Bayon. The main attraction of 11th century Baphoun is the third level view and a large reclining Buddha (70m long and 7m high) which located on the west side. A small pyramide 10th century temple named ‘Phimeanakas’, built by king Rajendravaman dedicated to the hindu god is located inside the ancien Royal Palace on the left side of Baphoun temple.  You will take a break for lunch, our guide will recommend you a simple local restaurant on spot in Angkor Park. After the meal and a moment of rest, you will finish your visite with the most impressive temple in the Angkor park, called Angkor.

Originally built as a Hinduism temple dedicated to the Vishnu God for the Khmer Empire by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century and then transformed to the Buddhist temple, Angkor is considered as the largest religious monument in the world. Once you arrive the site, you will be surprised by the majesty and beauty of its impressive architecture. You will visit the epic scenes on the temple walls with our experience guide. Listed as UNESCO world heritage site in 1992, Angkor is the symbol of the country and the 3 towers of this temple are featured on the current flag of Cambodia. Return to your hotel after the visite.

Day 3: Visit Banteay Srei and the main temple of Big tour

Today, you will discover the 5 main temples located in the big cycle and a small beautiful Hinduism temple “Banteay Srei”. In the morning, our English-speaking guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 8 am. Your starting point is the Pre Rup temple. Built at the end of the 10th century by King Rajendravarman, Pre Rup is a pyramid temple consisting of 5 brick towers dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu gods and their wives Parvati and Lakshmi. The five towers of this temple represent Mount Meru, the mythical home of the Hindu gods.

Continue your visit to Banteay Srei, also known as the “citadel of women”, located around 40 km from Siem Reap town. Banteay Srei, dating from the 10th century, is a well-preserved of pink sandstone temple with beautiful motifs and scenes of Hindu mythology. It’s a small one, but the most beautiful temple in Angkor. On the way back from temple, you will see a lot of small stores along the road where local people selling their sugar palm and others handmade products. It is possible to stop in the village of Pradak for a demonstration of making palm sugar.

You continue to visit the Eastern Mebon, a 10th Century temple built during the reign of King Rajendravarman, dedicated to the Hindu, Shiva gods and also honors to his parents. This 5-tower temple was built in the middle of an artificial island at the center of the now dry East Baray reservoir. The two levels of this temple are decorated with the big elephants’ statues of sandstones. You visit another temple built at the end of the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII and dedicated to the Buddhists. Ta Som, a small temple surrounded by a laterite wall and two gates containing 4 Buddha faces facing the 4 cardinal points. Then continue to Neak Peon temple, meaning “the entwined serpents”. Located on an artificial island in Jayatataka Baray and associated with Preah Than temple, Neak Peon was built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII dedicated to Buddhism. You will break for lunch in a local restaurant in the afternoon.

After lunch and a moment of rest, you will finish your visit with the largest temple of big cycle “Preah Khan”. Built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII to honor his father, Preah Khan, means “the sacred sword” located on the northwest of Angkor Thom, was built on the site of Jayavarman VII’s victory over the invading Chams in early of 13th century. This temple was a pagoda and a university of Buddhist monks. A big part of this temple is still largely unrestored. The temple was previously overrun with a particularly voracious vegetation and quite ruined.
Return to Siem Reap after the visite.

We would like to inform you that Angkor archeological park is so big. Two days tour can only visite the main temples in small and big cycle. We need to spend at less 4 to 5 days to visit the main temples including the others remote sites such as Beng Mealea, Kbal Spean, Koh Ker, Phnom Kulen and floating villages.
